It's been 3 years since I've updated this blog. My daughters have grown so much since these last pictures. I have one 15 1/2 and one that just turned 11. I am so proud to be their mother. Being a mother is a great honor. I am so thankful for the responsibility the Lord has given me. Growing up, my parents taught me how to treat others not just by their words but by their actions. I pray that my children will be able to say the same about me.
My heart breaks because of what I see in this day and age. The ways of this world will not teach our children respect. Do you know that Satan wants us as parents to stick our heads in the sand so we cannot see what he's planning? He wants our children. I hear parents say, "it's just a phase". All children are different but all of them have to be trained to be respectful. Webster defines "respect' as..."to show honor or esteem for. To treat with deference and regard". Children learn what they live. Is respect demonstrated in the actions of the parents? Do as we say, not as we do? Our children learn how to treat others by following our lead. Along with respect comes manners. Do your children know how to say 'thank you', 'yes maam', etc? I really do not like hearing "huh" or "what" as a reponse to an adult/elder. Also look someone in the eye when you are talking to them! PUT DOWN YOUR CELL PHONE and have a conversation with someone. Be polite. Take the time with your parents and grandparents. They will not be around forever. Treasure the relationships. This world has nothing to offer our children but heartache. We have to live in the world but not be like the world. God has given us a responsiblity to instill His moral values into our children. We cannot teach and train our children, if we are not in His Word and spending time in prayer. Jesus Christ should be talked about in our homes not just our churches. Jesus always showed respect and walked humbly. Lord help us to seek You first and teach Your ways.
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Philippians 2:3
